Counting the Days

May 21, 2026

Time passes whether we’re conscious of it or not.

So what’s the big deal of counting?

Counting sefirah, counting the 7 clear days…

There must be something to it.

Let's weave together the journey of sefira towards Matan Torah and its cyclical parallel - counting after menstruation towards mikvah.

I didn't originally set out to become a kallah teacher.

I just wanted to share the wisdom of the cycle no one seemed to be talking about. I wished every woman would experience the freedom I felt coming home to the truth of my cycle and my womb.

But I soon realized they were never separate.

Cycle consciousness, cycle awareness, it’s what Taharas Hamishpacha is really all about.

A vehicle to access the wisdom already inside of us.

You see, the 7 days - or 7 weeks - are not just about waiting. The actual translation of Shavuos is “weeks,” as in the whole purpose of this holiday is the 7 week journey that led to this epic culmination at Sinai!

It’s not that we’re counting the days so we can get to the mikvah. Each day we’re moving through the sefiros, from chessed, gevurah, tiferes, to netzach, hod, yesod, and malchus. It’s inevitable that through this journey, we arrive to a new realm, a new state of being, which becomes physically manifested and sealed through the waters of the mikvah.

Just as a ritual bath purifies the impure, so too, the Holy One, Blessed be He, purifies Israel.

(Mishna Yoma 8:17)

Tonight, we enter a Mikvah of a different sort. The Presence. The Shechinah. The Holy Embrace. Truly opening to receive from G-d as the Divine Masculine. Because ultimately, that's where feminine healing begins.

What does it even mean to receive the Torah?

Contrary to what many believe, receiving is not passive. It’s an active choice. A partnership.

When something is simply done “to” you, that’s not receiving.

Receiving is an intention.

A decision.

The act of opening up and allowing in.

We don’t open the door to allow any stranger into our home. It’s an act of trust. Of consciousness. Reserved only for those deemed welcome.

That’s what true Kabolas HaTorah (accepting/receiving the Torah) is meant to be. A conscious choice stemming from what we’ve learned about ourselves and about His presence throughout these 7 weeks.

We’ve come to embody a new state of being.

And now we’re ready to immerse in the Mikvah and Meet Him Fully.

Wishing you a beautiful Yom Tov.
